Mongolia
Outer Mongolia certainly lies on the edge of the map.
A land of horses, blues skies, limitless landscapes, Chinggis Khan, shamans and spirits, nomad hospitality in an ancient but living, breathing culture.
It was here that I made my first long ride in 1992 when I crossed the country alone on horse back, a journey that spanned nearly 3000 kms and seven months. My award winning book Gantsara, alone across Mongolia (Winner of the 2005 Travel Book of the Year, Cathay Pacific Travel Media Awards) tells the full story.
